Well, we survived! Ellie is in bed and Jeff and I would be if it weren't for Shelby. It's better to stay up and feed her and make it a little longer through the night! My sister's family is here, along with my mom and her husband. Once again, Ellie was fine with the first thing she opened and her cousins were more then happy to help. There are still some under the tree, so maybe tomorrow. She had a blast with her cousins and will be disapointed to see them leave tomorrow! Here is a picture of them playing outside!

Our little skier!
Ok, so Ellie is a little skier! I can't believe how good she is! We went to Caberfae for two days and she took the chair lift up and skied down. She either held Jeff's hand or he held the straps of the harness we bought for her. I couldn't believe her balance, she did great! Here are a few pictures.

To the theater!
Well, I took Ellie to her first play. We went to the Croswell for Peter Pan today. She did great! Loved it and loved to clap after each act. Here is a picture of her in her new dress! Still having trouble with her hitting and kicking me, her dad, her friends and Shelby! UGH! She can be so sweet most of the time and then so ugly for no reason! Why don't kids come with a handbook!!

A little sisterly love!
I wish I had video of this...today the girls were really interacting for the first time. Ellie was in Shelby's face (which is a regular spot it seems like) and laughing and making faces at her and Shelby was definately smiling back at her. It was so cute and Ellie just loved it. I know she felt like finally this little creature was more then just a human being taking up my mom and dad's time.
Shelby is almost 7 weeks already and gaining weight. She actually has fat rolls! We don't go back to the doctor until 8 weeks, but I am guessing she is between 8 and 9 pounds. She is doing great. My mom is here for a few days and took Shelby overnight last night so we could get a good night sleep! Tonight too! YEAH! I miss my sleep. I haven't been able to take naps eiether because it seems like Shelby is an afternoon kind of gal!

Getting Out!
Well, we are finally getting out of the house. Shelby is 4 weeks old now and I am taking her out some. Over the weekend we took the girls to Jungle Java. It was our first time. This was the only picture I could get because I could not keep up with Ellie and Jeff. Still recovering from surgery I stayed seated with Shelby and Jeff braved the "jungle" on a Saturday afternoon. I'm not sure who needed a nap more, Ellie or Dad?!?

Life with 2!

Well, we've been home for 3 weeks and it's been crazy. My mom left last Monday and I've been managing on my own this week. We have been staying home mostly because Shelby was a preemie and weighed so little and doc said their is a lot of respitory stuff going around right now. Rachel and Ashton came to visit yesterday and Liam came over while too. I'm eager to start doing things again.
The other thing holding me back is the recovery from my c-section. UGH! A lot harder this time then last time. I've had quite a bit of pain and it is limiting everything. Hopefully I'll be fully recovered soon!
Shelby is gaining weight rapidly and is a great eater. She gets up 2 during the night, so that is not too bad. I miss having my mom here to help, but I guess we need to figure it out on our own at some point.
My Dad and Kath come for Thanksgiving and to meet the newest addition to the family. Looking forward to that.
Ellie is doing great as a big sister, I really couldn't ask for much more. Now, Puck on the other hand, is pouting and thinking his life has just ended!
Raachel brought to my attention that I haven't put pictures up for a long time, so here are a few!

It's good to be home!
Well, after 3-4 days in the hospital it sure is nice to be home. Ellie was so excited when I came home. It was nice to have some time with her before Jeff arrived with Shelby. I was a little unsure of how Ellie was going to be because she had a rough week with me being gone, but she was great! She is all about being a big sister and helping out. Hope that continues. It is easier taking care of Ellie plus Shelby then it is Ellie plus recovering from surgery. UGH! It's been hard and she doesn't really understand. My mom is here and although some times it seems crowded, she has been a huge help! Hope to download pictures tomorrow.

Testing! Testing!
So, is it the age...2-1/2? or is it her stubborness she inherits from her parents? or is it just trying to learn or expand her limits? I don't know, but some days are better then others. Someone mentined maybe she senses the baby coming and is just acting out. Hope it ends soon! She's not all bad, but we try to figure out what triggers certain things. Once we figure something out, it changes. Welcome to parenting, right? How am I going to manage 2!!?? Ok, so I am getting a little nervous, ok, a lot nervous!
Baby update... doc said everything looked good today and felt confident that we will be able to deliver at Herrick and not have to go to Toledo. I am going back to Toledo tomorrow for another doppler ultrasound so they can track her and make sure things are consistent. It shows the blood flow and fluids. I'll be going back next Friday too. Really bummed I am missing the field trip to the Pumpkin patch. We just found out today we have to go back down and tomorrow morning was my only option for an appointment. On the up side, we joined Costco that just opened and it is awesome! So, I'll do a little shopping while I'm there.

Simple Saturday!
We got a good, long night sleep last night, so we were all ready to go this morning. We stripped wallpaper border in Ellie's room to get it ready to paint. Went and bought paint and Ellie fell asleep in the car and only slpet about an hour today. We took Puck to a new vet today and finally found out that he is allergic to the food we are giving him. So, after spending too much $$ on drugs the other vet said he would have to take forever, this was good to hear. Now, we just need to find a food that will work. Until then, they will give him an injection (instead of daily drugs that his pregnany mom always forgets to give him) that will last 6-8 weeks. Also, MUCH more cost effective then drugs. I hate to say I feel we were getting ripped off at the other vet, but someone is paying for all of those renovations.
After that we went to Hidden Lake Gardens for the Fall Foliage Festival. It was HOT! But We had a great time. Ellie had her first face painting and thought that was the best part. She also had a doll made for her out of corn husks and had her first snow cone. She was exhausted tonight and passed out easy and early! I'm not too far behind. Tomorrow, paint Ellie's room!

Ups!
Well, good news for now. Everything looked good today with baby Shelby. I will be monitored closely and hope to go at least 3more weeks, but would be great to the full 6. We'll see!
Ellie has been great. She has been at Grandma's more then she is used to. She loves going, but was really missing mom and dad today. I was there when she woke up from her nap and then took her to the homecoming parade. We met Beth, Lauren and Jenna up there and ran into Ehtika, Chris and Brennan. She seemed to enjoy herself.
We took Grandma to The Stable tonight for supper to thank her for help this week and the help she will be giving us over the next several. It was a good meal and Ellie was such a big girl. She fell asleep on the way home, so all is quiet. Neither Jeff or I had a great night of sleep last night, so we are crashing early.
This weekend Daddy promised to take Ellis somewhere special and also to paint her room. Yeah!

Ups and Downs
Last week my blood pressure went up and I have been taking it easy since then, as much as you can with Ellie. Today we went back to the doc and my bp was down but Shelby has slowed way down on weight gain. So, I headed over to Herrick for a Non Stress Test (NST) and everything looked good. Tomorrow we head to Toledo for a super duper ultrasound to see if we can find out if she is getting the nutrients shs needs to grow inside. If not, looks like we are having her early then anticipated. If she is and she is just another small Fordeck baby, then we have weekly NST's and Ultrasounds.
Ellie has been spending time with Grandma, so that has been a relief knowing we have someone to care for her. Jeff cancelled his 5 day business trip, so that was good too.
Jeff and I both feel like everything will be okay, but we are just hoping to go another 3 weeks. If not we will be having her in Toledo.
Please keep us in your thoughts as we continue this pregnancy.

What a great Saturday!
We had such a great day yesterday! We started our day with our usual Saturday treat of Lev's donuts for breakfast. Then we packed up and headed to Ann Arbor. We went and got Ellie a new Michigan t-shirt and treated ourselves to Starbucks! Yum! There were so many people walking around downtown it was crazy, but we fit right in with our blue and maize attire. From there we headed to Greenfield Village. Ellie took about a 30-40 minute power nap and she was great considering such a short nap. We had packed a picnic lunch and took the wagon and weather was just perfect. We rode the carousel twice and the model t cars. We stayed until the closed at 5pm. We went to Sam's on the way home for some shopping and ate supper there. Ellie wanted some milk when we left and we had to go to 4 gas station stores to find it. We couldn't believe it. We were laughing so hard, even Ellie thought it was funny that Daddy kept coming back out without milk. Jeff needed (more like wanted) to stop at Cabelas on the way home. Ellie and I were driving around the parking lot when we spotted a little helicopter parked out back. Well, ever since Dad took her to see one last week she has been wanting to see another. So, that made her day. She was asleep a few minutes later. Oh, and best news yet. 3 DAYS WITH NO POTTY ACCIDENTS!!!! YEAH!

Busy week!
We finally got the baby's room painted over the weekend and Ellie knows it's Shelby's room. She still has her clothes and books and some toys in it, but somehow is okay with the fact that it is not her room anymore. One of these days we will get Ellie's room done and I can move her stuff in to it. It is not a favorite subject with me and there are things I can't do, but I am getting ready to paint without waiting on Jeff to do the window seat first. AAGH!
Monday we went to the Treehouse in Chelsea with the MOMS Club. Ellie had so much fun and I was exhausted. We rode with a friend. Ellie slept about 20 minutes on the way back to where we had parked my car and then she was up. I really could have used a nap that day, well every day, but I was counting on one that day.
Tuesday was playgroup and all of the kids got along just fine. It sure is different without the 3 older ones there. I'm actually surprised Ellie hasn't asked where they are.
Today I took Ellie to Lenawew's Child large motor skills group. We haven't been since April or May. She had so much fun. After clean up at the end, Ms. Kim always has them run back and forth across the long ways of the gym floor. Last year Ellie was one of the last to make it. Today she was one of the first. My big girl is growing up!! The group did 4 lengths and Ellie and a few others continued on. She was on her 3rd length when she was running and turning around looking at me and ran into someone. No one got hurt and no tears, but she was done.
We went across the street tonight with a friend to let Puck swim. Our friend has 2 large labs. So, 3 large dogs and a toddler are a mess. Ellie was soaked and covered with mud. She had a blast though. Those are the times when I don't care how dirty she gets as long as she is having fun doing it.

No Zoo today!
Beth and I loaded up the girls and headed to Toledo with plans to go to the zoo! Went to Sams Club first and when we came out it was pouring down rain. Here we had 2 little girls who REALLY wanted to go to the zoo. We decided to go the mall and see if it just passed, but by the time it did it was too late to try and go. They needed naps. We will try again soon!
Overnight at Grandma's House
Wednesday was MOMS Night out and Jeff left for a 2 day fishing trip with a buddy and took Puck along. Ellie went to Grandma's house and spent the night for the first time! She did great! Never cried, but kept waking up looking for mom and dad. Never stayed awake, but would wake up and ask where we were and then would go back to sleep. For me, I was looking forward to a good nights sleep...ok, as good as it can be when you are pregnant. Well, that didn't happen. Not going to bore you with the details, but phone calls from Jeff (problems on the road, but everything worked out), acid reflux (a pregnancy thing and probably had to do with how much I ate that night), frequent trips to the potty (another pregnancy thing) and then I woke to a really bad charlie horse in my calf (still hurts!)! I needed coffee the next morning. Anyway, glad Ellie was such a big girl about the overnight at Grandma's house!

Terrible twos? Or a bad day (or two, or three...)?
Yesterday was te worst day of Ellie's life, for me! My sweet little girl tested everything and anything yesterday. Nothing was good enough, everything I did or said was wrong, she hit, kicked, screamed. You name it, yesterday was the day. At 7:00 (at night) I finally had enough and literally walked out the door. I was convinced she hated me and was crying like a baby. Ok, I can say it's my hormones. But, it was a really bad day. She was a different person today. We had fun at playgroup this morning. She listened and had no accidents all day. When it was nap time she got in bed and went to sleep (2-1/2 hours)!!! Tonight she went to Grandma's house and Jeff and I got to go out. We hadn't realized how long it had been and we really needed it. It was great. Ellie was so happy to see us and had seen Dad all day because she woke up after he left for work this morning. So, she had to fill him in on her entire day. Now she is sacked out and Jeff is working. Me, I have my feet elevated because for the first time in either pregnancy my feet are swollen and they hurt. UGH! Me, I am j ust going to relax and read a magazine. AAHH!

My little girl is all better!
Whew! What a week! I am not used to staying in all the time. I guess it was a good week to do it since all it did was rain. Ellie's fever finally broke Friday night and then she got a rash Saturday. Those are the two symptoms of Roseolla. But by yesterday afternoon she was at the Community Picnic playing in the splash pad. When I got home after breaking down the MOMS Club booth she was full speed ahead playing and that is when I knew she was finally coming out of this! It was so good to see her having so much fun I didn't want to be the one to cut it short to put her to bed. But I knew she still needed more rest. She slept good. Jeff and I, on the other hand, stayed up until 12:30 watching movies! UGH! We are dragging a little this morning. We rented Wild Hogs and we both got a kick out of that and really laughed and then we watched Perfect Strangers with Halle Berry and Bruce Willis...weird!

Gotta love a child's spirit!
I love that Ellie has a great spirit and is usually in good spirits. She has been fighting a high temp since late Tuesday night. She hasn't had her normal energy, but she has been in a good mood and still talking up a storm. Went to the doc this morning and she has rosella. Basically a fever and she will get some sort of skin rash. She has a little be her ear, but not much. Doc said she should be better in a couple of more days. Nothing you can take for it. So, we are just riding this one out and watching movies. We are so bummed we missed kids bowling this morning, can't wait to hear about it.

Rainy day!
Well, we had a great rainy day. Ellie stayed in her pj's all day and me in my sweats until after supper when we went to test drive a car. For those of you who are bored with hearing about my car shopping, I think we have come to an end. I am just as happy as anyone...I am so tired of car shopping! Although Ellie thinks it is great fun and asks when we are going to look at another car.
After the very trying weekend with a 2 year old who I thought "this is terrible twos", today was great. We played alot and watched some movies. Peter Pan and Charlottes Web seem to be in with her right now. Definately better then Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Frankly I have seen or heard her movies so many times we could use a n ew one. Any suggestions anyone!?
Here is a picture of Ellie in her new rainboots. She got try them out yesterday. We went out and played in puddles and rode bikes. Today we opted for staying in, although I had to hide her boots. Otherwise she just wanted to go out in the puddles. Thankfully she was in a better mood, as was I! And in bed and asleep by 8! YEAH!

It's about time!!
Ok, so I am WAY overdue! Thanks Rachel for reminding me!
Where do I begin...
We've spend many weekends this summer enjoying the lake house. Ellie is getting more and more confident with her "swimming" in the lake. She has been jumping off the pier and walking around without help. The water can get a little rough when the boats are out and it is easy for her to get knocked off her feet. We have also been enjoying doing all the MOMS Club activities. Playgroups are a given and we try to do most everything else, just doesn't always happen, but most of the time it does.
Ellie is really into knowing people's names. And now she wants to know last names. And lately she has been asking me what time it is. I don't know why...I don't usually refer to time with her. She is starting to learn how to spell her name. She knows the E-L-L part and the rest gets a little jumbled.
We finally, after about 18 months, seem to be over the separation anxiety. She doesn't cry and just kisses me goodbye when she is left at Grandma's or Miss Heidi's house. So far those are the only places she has stayed without mom or dad. Miss Heidi has the best toys and Grandma has been making cookies with her, so she has been liking that.
We have been home all month and it has been nice. We are trying to catch up on house projects, get our pre-winter projects done and get ready for baby Shelby. Yes, that is her name. Most of you probably know that by now. September is going to be a crazy month for us and that only leaves about 6-7 weeks. So, we've got to get moving!
Today was the MOMS Club family picnic. I think there were 7 family's there and it was a good time. The kids loved the park and the weather was perfect. I enjoyed meeting the familys and spending time with some of the moms I don't see very often.
Ok, no promises on posting more often...but I will try!

Busy! Busy!
It's been a while since I've posted, so here is a little catch up. Today marks 3 weeks since we stopped using diapers and Ellie is doing great. I almost gave up last week and then something just clicked and she is having more days without accidents then with them and she is ok with pooping on the potty (that took a while and was not fun to clean up). Today was a no accident day! Yeah! What a big girl!
We spent the weekend at the lake with some friends and had a great time! It has been too long since we have seen them and Jeff was able to relalx and not do house projects for his mom. Ellie LOVED going on the boats and driving the speed boat. We went in circles, but she was having fun.
We bought a bike trailer and went for our first ride Sunday night and then the tires on my bike gave out (it has been at least 7 or 8 years since it has been riden). So, we got new tubes today and we all went out again tonight! She loved it and it felt great to get some exercise after eating supper.
Out latest venture was to find Ellie some new Crocs. Those are the only shoes she will wear. Having a hard time finding some her size we resorted to calling Grandma Hilly. She lives in St. Croix and there were plenty. So, they are in the mail! Yeah, Grandma Hilly!!

Garage sale great finds!
Ellie got a couple of great things this past weekend at garage sales. Got to love this! My friend Heather found this Little Tikes playhouse for $20 for us and we got Ellie her first bike from Peyton...thanks Peyton!
In other news...we stopped using diapers except for naps and overnight. Today was day 2 and Ellie is doing great. We went to out for 2 hours yesterday...no accidents. Went to Lenawee's Child and then to the park. One accident. What a big girl. We are looking forward to a long weekend at the lake. Hope the weather holds up nice!

Big Girl!
2 nights and 2 naps later, Ellie is loving her new big bed. She doesn't fight going down and sleeps great. I still check on her more often. Since I have pregnancy blaldder and get up 1-2 times during the night, I have been checking on her. All is good. She doesn't even get out when she wakes up, she just calls for us. She is doing great, what a big girl! Time to make her new room in to a little girl's room and not just a room with a bed!

Little girl, big bed!
Ellie asked to sleep in her new bed last night. Her room is not put together by any means, but there is a bed. So, we thought we'd see how it would go! She did great! Slept all night! Glad we have the guard rail though, at one point when I went in there to check on her (which I did quite a few times I will say), her head was pushed up against the mesh! She is growing up! We are potty training right now too! And she is doing great with that too! What a big girl!

A new post, finally!
I'm not sure how much longer I will be posting. I just can't seem to keep up with it. I haven't downloaded pictures for 3 weeks, so no new ones tonight either.
Last week was really busy. We had a MOMS Club activity everyday, except Wednesday, which was Park Day bt gor rained out. One of these days the weather will cooperate for a Park Day. Friday we went to the petting zoo. Ellie is still talking about it. She LOVED feeding the goats. She was so tired from running around I thought for sure she would pass out for a good long nap. No such luck, b ut she slept good that night. It was good that she did because Saturday she went with Dad, Grandma and Puck to the lake. That's right, mom got the day to her self. I have to admit I was a little sad at first...ok, I cried...but that is definately the hormones taking over! It was really weird having such a quiet house. After working in the yard and cleaning out the garage I spent the afternoon and evening with Heidi shopping and eating in Ann Arbor. Now that is what I call a nice day. No stops at the play place, no diapers to change and no crayons and squirmmy kids at supper. I did miss my family though.
Today Jeff and Ellie took Grandma and I to brunch at the Henry Ford Museum. What a treat!! Ellie was such a little lady and loved all the food to choose from. After that we walked around Greenfield Village. It was a really great Mothers Day! I am lucky to have such a wonderful family. Hope all of you had a great day too!

Keeping busy!
We are just keeping busy! The warm weather finds us outside most of the time. We are getting ready for a house full of family coming in town for my big 4-0!! Ellie has been telling me "happy birthday mommy" all week! Too cute! Jeff is tilling Grandma's garden so that Ellie and I can plant our veggies. We need to go get flowers for the pots outside. My Tulips are blooming!! YEAH!! Ellie loves to smell the flowers and I think she will like helping me water too. She is trying to learn how to peddle her trike. She puts her feet on and says "peddle, peddle" as I push. She can't quite reach on the down. She is talking more and more each day and she always seems to amaze me. I love watching her grow up!

The Party!
Ellie's 2nd birthday party was today! It turned out great...very simple! We had cake and ice cream, the kids had an easter egg hunt and then the presents! Just like Christmas, there were too many to open at one time. So, she got through some and there are still some unopened...and she is down for the night. Ellie's friends Virginia, Liam, Ashton and Connor came to celebrate, along with their parents, and the Walker's and Grandma came too. Lots of fun, Ellie is a lucky girl to have such great friends and family. Tomorrow is her birthday and we are headed down to the lake to spend Easter with the extended family. Happy Easter!

Great vacation!
Well, we are back from a week long vacation in St. Croix with temps in the 80's every day. When we got on the plane yesterday it was around 85 when we got off the plane in Toledo it was 29! OUCH! Ellie had so much fun playing outside all week. The good news is that she is so tired from trying to keep up with her cousins (Jake, 6, and Ben, 5) that she is happy hanging in the house today. She stayed in her jammies all day! And took a 3 hour nap! YEAH, mom got a nap too!
The last time we were at the beach was last summer and Ellie didn't really like it. This time she LOVED it! She just played and played. She went in the water as long as mom or dad was holding her. She loved the pool too! We went to an outdoor buffet at a hotel that it on a little island (just a few minute boat ferry over) and the entertainment was a Mocko Jumbie. Here are some pictures. Ellie is still talking about it. She says "Ellie scared, he's dancing, funny". She clapped for him once he left.

A morning out!
We went to Toledo this morning for Ellie's 2nd haircut at Cookie Cutters and she did great! It takes mom, dad, her favorite treat (Yogos) and a favorite DVD to get through it, but it appears to be cut straight. Before the appointment we went to The Original Pancake House, one of our favorites. I can't believe how much Ellie ate...she loved it...pancakes, bacon and OJ. We ran a few other errands before heading home for a nap. The sun's not out, but it was warm enough to play outside this afternoon without hats, gloves and our winter coats! Is warm weather getting closer? My Tulips have shown their faces, so it can't be too much longer! We leave Wednesday for St. Croix and we will try to bring the warm weather home!!

Getting ready for vacation
Well, we decided to go to St. Croix and we leave Wednesday. I don't have any summer clothes for Ellie yet, so I have been doing some shopping and thanks to Beth and Ehrika have borrowed and bought some too. Went to the doc yesterday and Ellie never got over the ear infection from a couple of weeks ago...so we are on more antibiotics. In addition, I think she and Jeff are passing a stomach thing back and forth. According to Ellie, everything hurts...knees, eyes, head and so on.
We rented Open Season last weekend and can't tell you how many times Ellie watched it. The bear's name is Boog. I had to return it and she keeps asking for Boog Bear. Might need to b uy that one for the long airplane trip!
She is back on to the potty thing. Went on the potty all day yesterday. She had an accident today, but it was in the bathroom right next to the potty. We need to get a better stool so she can get up there. I think she was trying and by the time I got there it was too late.
Had a great playgroup this week with the MOMS Club and had our second MOMS night out last night! What a great group this is going to be!
Well, more shopping tonight and more shopping this weekend. Getting ready for our trip and Ellie's birthday! Can't believe my girl is going to be 2 in 2 weeks!! She still wants a donut for her birthday!! Too funny!

Yeah! Playing outside!
I am a day behind on posting. The ones dated Sunday were actually Saturday's events and the ones I am posting now are from Sunday. It was gorgeous yesterday...Sunny and 50 and no wind. That might not seem warm for those of you who don't live here, but it is when it has been cloudy and 20-30. We got to enjoy some time outside and Ellie played with the little snow that is left on the ground. And, of course, plenty of time in her swing. Earlier in the day we went to COSI . She had so much fun.

Let's play in the water
It was such a nice day we took Puck for a swim. I put Ellie's rain boots on because the day before we went on a walk and she had so much fun going through the puddles. Of course we didn't have her boots on and she got soaked. Well, she had more fun watching Puck swim and wanted to throw his bumper for him, she didn't really play in the puddles. Puck was so excited to be out he ran Ellie over trying to get his bumper. She landed flat on her back in the mud and water. We had to strip her down to put her back in the car. She was more upset about leaving then she was about getting knocked over.
Lowe's is so much fun!

Ellie is exhausted!
We have been playing hard this week. Monday we had a playgroup at our house. Tuesday we went to a playgroup in the morning and had Connor over in the afternoon. Wednesday we went to playgroup in the morning, played with Grammie and Pete in the afternoon and went to a birthday party at the Inflatables place after that. She was so exhausted at the birthday party and being the smallest one there she got tumbled on way too many times and every little thing made her cry. Special thanks to Mason for being a "big brother" and coming to get me when another little boy was roughing her up. Mason went back in with me to get her and tackled the other boy trying to protect Ellie.
She was hysterical when we got home and still had no interest in eating supper. Finally she calmed down enough for pj's and milk and crashed out by about 7:00 p.m. Whew! What a day! I'm ready for bed too!
Camera should be back from repair soon and I will take more pictures!

Our First Blog
I love going to all my friends blogs and seeing pictures and reading what is going on with them. Here is our first try at it. Our camera is "in the shop" so the photos are a few weeks old.
I'll try to steal some from Ehrika. We went to the Fantasy Forest (an indoor playplace) today with Brennan, Seth and Owen. They had a blast! I got a work out chasing, lifting and climbing.
